Creative Writing Class for 12+

This four week introduction to creative writing covers all the essential skills a writer needs:

-where to get creative inspiration and what to do if it never arrives!

-the skillful use of language, including dialogue

-building characters and worlds for those characters to inhabit

-narrative structure

-revising, editing and presenting your finished work.

Students will learn and practice writing techniques in class. They will also be encouraged to keep a writer’s journal over the teaching period, and to work on poems OR a short story OR a novel OR a script at home and in class. Prompts provided if required. During class students will also take part in a writers’ circle, learning to give and receive constructive feedback on their work. A reading of student work for parents will be held on the last day.
