The countdown is on for Sydney Dance Company’s final School Matinee performance of 2022, with only three weeks to go until Resound takes the stage!
About The Works
Tracing an arc of emotions that moves from a dark turbulent interrogation of recent times through to a burgeoning buoyant optimism, Resound is a program of unique dance works that will engage your heart and soul.
This matinee performance will includes two new world premieres from the Resound program: Summer choreographed by Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela and The Universe is Here by renowned Australian choreographer Stephanie Lake.
Summer captures the lightness of a world turning over a new leaf, featuring the evocative score Cicadidae by Australian composer Kate Moore recorded by the Australian String Quartet.
The Universe is Here fuses movement and music, bringing blistering light to the stage and a fizzing glimpse of a haunted dreamscape. Poetic, fresh and forceful, Stephanie Lake’s new work will feature incredible collaborators including costume design by Harriet Oxley and music composed by Robin Fox.
What’s Included
The matinee will include pre-show talks and demonstrations, followed by a post-show panel discussion with our Company dancers and artistic and production team members, with the opportunity for students to ask questions to the panel.
This excursion will support delivery of Key Learning Areas such as English, Creative & Practical Arts and PDHPE. Along with tickets, you’ll also receive a Resource Pack with tasks to enrich students understanding of the performance in the classroom and enable an ongoing and in-depth learning experience with Sydney Dance Company.

All tickets are $30 each – all persons attending, parents and students, must purchase a ticket.
