Be part of a Public Art project – Kinyingarra Workshop with Megan Cope

Quandamooka artist, Megan Cope, is working on a monumental public artwork which will be installed in the Sydney Opera House forecourt from 27 September, 2023. The work involves sculptural forms, made using tens of thousands of oyster (kinyingarra) shells which have been cleaned and drilled by volunteers.

This is a group booking, offering teens the opportunity to contribute to the artwork by threading the shells onto wires. The artist and her team will show participants what to do. The team is working until 3pm, so there’s an option to take a lunch break and then stay on.

Parents welcome to participate, or to hang out nearby, where there are cafes, benches and grassy areas. This is not a drop-off event.

To book in : please email Rachel with numbers of teens and adults from your family attending, and a mobile phone number – rp.home.ed.bookings@gmail.com by 8th August

Please note – do not attend this workshop if you, or anyone in your household, have/has any symptoms of illness, whether or not you are negative on a RAT. If you’re not sure, please contact the organiser.
