DESCRIPTION:Theatre Set Design and Stagecraft Workshop\nInspired by A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings\n(Please note – it is advisable that you also attend the performance of ‘A Very Old man with Enormous Wings’ in conjunction with the workshop however\, you can choose to just attend the workshop.) \n“There’s nothing better than having the opportunity to create a world that doesn’t\, but could\, exist” Christophe Lautrette \nIn this workshop students learn how to create dynamic spaces for live performance and theatre to build spaces of imagination for an audience. \n\nMake a world for theatrical storytelling\n\nIn this fun and engaging workshop inspired by A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings\, students have the opportunity to learn from Isabel Hudson\, a set and costume designer to create their own miniature worlds. Step into the captivating world of theatrical design and scenography to learn unique approaches that take ideas from the page to the stage. \nIn this workshop students will: \n\nExplore real-world examples to learn how a designer approaches the creative process.\nDevelop ideas and sketches to build students’ skills in stage and set design.\nCreate small scale models and prototypes for sets\, props\, characters and stages.\nConsider how different challenges and parameters that develop their design choices to enhance or bring alive the script or how an audience interprets a performance.\n\n\n\n\nThe workshop duration is 90 minutes. \nYOU MUST BE A SHEN MEMBER TO BOOK TICKETS.  PLEASE ONLY BOOK FOR YOUR IMMEDIATE FAMILY. \nPLEASE NOTE that parents can attend this workshop in a non-participating capacity.  Parents will be able to sit in the back of the Creative Learning Space.  Parents need to also purchase a ticket (even though free) at the time of booking.

DESCRIPTION:Shadow Puppetry Installation Workshop\nInspired by A Bucket of Beetles\n(Please note – it is advisable that you also attend the performance of ‘A Bucket of Beetles’ in conjunction with the workshop however\, you can choose to just attend the workshop.) \n‘Leonardo da Vinci would have loved this puppetry performance!’  Audience member of ‘A Bucket of Beetles’ \n\nCreate shadow puppets with natural materials\n\nDeepen student’s engagement with the performance of A Bucket of Beetles with this making workshop with Papermoon and their puppetry artists. Students make shadow installations using branches and leaves\, to explore the magic of puppetry and the performance’s deep connection to nature and friendship. \nIn this workshop\, students will: \n\nExplore ways to bring objects\, materials and figures to life using simple natural materials and light to create shadow puppet worlds.\nWork with artists to create their own puppets using recycled and natural materials\, and how these puppets can inform storytelling\, set design and the audiences experience of the performance.\nLearn about Indonesian approaches to puppetry story telling.\n\n\n\nAbout Papermoon Puppet Theatre\n\nPapermoon Puppet Theatre was founded in April 2006 in Yogyakarta\, Indonesia by Co-Artistic Director Maria Tri Sulistyani (Ria). She has since nurtured\, developed and expanded the company together with Co-Artistic Director Iwan Effendi\, a visual artist and Papermoon’s puppet designer. Among other close collaborators\, we work with a collective of puppeteers\, which includes Anton Fajri\, Pambo Priyojati\, Beni Sanjaya\, Muhammad Alhaq and Hardiansyah Yoga. \nTo date\, Papermoon Puppet Theatre has created more than 30 puppet performances and visual art installations and exhibitions\, and have toured to more than 10 countries.
