DESCRIPTION:Auseco have been a leading Geography and Science Fieldtrip Educator for over 40 years to schools across NSW.  Now they are reaching out to provide these excellent opportunities to Homeschoolers. \nDescription\n\nJoin us for a hands-on day of outdoor learning at Oatley Park\, where Geography and Science come together through practical fieldwork\, exploration and discovery. \nStudents will investigate Sydney’s sandstone bushland and ecosystems using real fieldwork equipment to collect data\, test environmental conditions and explore how living things interact with their environment. \nDesigned for Stage 3 and Stage 4 homeschool students\, this excursion provides an opportunity to learn outdoors\, work alongside other homeschool students and experience Geography and Science in a real-world setting. \nWhat we’ll do \n\nInvestigate Sydney’s Hawkesbury Sandstone landscape and how it was formed\nUse topographic maps and field sketching to explore landscapes and landforms\nMeasure biotic and abiotic factors using scientific field equipment to understand how ecosystems function\nExamine plant adaptations that help species survive in bushland environments\nSearch for insects\, spiders and other bushland invertebrates using identification charts to explore biodiversity and the role of decomposers in ecosystems\nInvestigate how people have changed and managed the environment\nCollect and interpret real-world environmental data\nMeet and learn alongside other homeschool students\n\nIf you are interested please use the following link to book and pay for the excursion.  An adult is required to accompany student on the excursion but does not need to book and pay for a ticket.  Only the participating child need to book and pay for the ticket. \nhttps://events.humanitix.com/homeschool-geography-and-science-fieldwork-day-oatley-park \n  \n  \n\n

We’ll walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge\, visit hidden local gems\, collect real-world data and discover what makes a place a great place to live. \nDesigned for Stage 3 and Stage 4 homeschool students\, this excursion brings Geography to life through practical investigations\, fieldwork and observation in one of the world’s most spectacular urban environments. \nWhat we’ll do \n\nWalk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge\nExplore Millers Point\, Milsons Point and Lavender Bay\nUse fieldwork equipment to measure noise\, light and temperature\nConduct neighbourhood surveys and investigate community facilities\nComplete field sketches and map-based activities\nCollect and analyse real-world data\nVisit a hidden harbourside garden created from a former railway embankment\nMeet and learn alongside other homeschool students\n\nWhy families love fieldwork \nMany students learn best when they can move\, explore and experience concepts in the real world. \nThis excursion provides an engaging alternative to desk-based learning and gives students the opportunity to investigate Geography firsthand while spending the day outdoors. \nAll fieldwork equipment is supplied\, and every student will have the opportunity to participate in practical activities throughout the day. We’ll test water quality\, catch water bugs and discover how catchments function and how human activities can affect our waterways. \nDesigned for Stage 3 and Stage 4 homeschool students\, this excursion combines Geography and Science through practical investigations\, fieldwork and outdoor exploration in one of Sydney’s most beautiful bushland environments. \nWhat we’ll do \n\nTest water quality using scientific equipment\nSearch for aquatic macroinvertebrates using field equipment and identification charts\nBuild and test water filters\nExplore the waterways and bushland surrounding Manly Dam\nUse topographic maps to identify the water catchment\nInvestigate sources of water pollution\nComplete a field sketch\nMeet and learn alongside other homeschool students\n\nWhy families love fieldwork \nMany students learn best when they can move\, explore and experience concepts in the real world. \nThis excursion provides an engaging alternative to desk-based learning and gives students the opportunity to investigate the environment firsthand while spending the day outdoors. \nAll fieldwork equipment is supplied\, and every student will have the opportunity to participate in practical activities throughout the day.
