DESCRIPTION:Shadow Puppetry Installation Workshop\nInspired by A Bucket of Beetles\n(Please note – it is advisable that you also attend the performance of ‘A Bucket of Beetles’ in conjunction with the workshop however\, you can choose to just attend the workshop.) \n‘Leonardo da Vinci would have loved this puppetry performance!’  Audience member of ‘A Bucket of Beetles’ \n\nCreate shadow puppets with natural materials\n\nDeepen student’s engagement with the performance of A Bucket of Beetles with this making workshop with Papermoon and their puppetry artists. Students make shadow installations using branches and leaves\, to explore the magic of puppetry and the performance’s deep connection to nature and friendship. \nIn this workshop\, students will: \n\nExplore ways to bring objects\, materials and figures to life using simple natural materials and light to create shadow puppet worlds.\nWork with artists to create their own puppets using recycled and natural materials\, and how these puppets can inform storytelling\, set design and the audiences experience of the performance.\nLearn about Indonesian approaches to puppetry story telling.\n\n\n\nAbout Papermoon Puppet Theatre\n\nPapermoon Puppet Theatre was founded in April 2006 in Yogyakarta\, Indonesia by Co-Artistic Director Maria Tri Sulistyani (Ria). She has since nurtured\, developed and expanded the company together with Co-Artistic Director Iwan Effendi\, a visual artist and Papermoon’s puppet designer. Among other close collaborators\, we work with a collective of puppeteers\, which includes Anton Fajri\, Pambo Priyojati\, Beni Sanjaya\, Muhammad Alhaq and Hardiansyah Yoga. \nTo date\, Papermoon Puppet Theatre has created more than 30 puppet performances and visual art installations and exhibitions\, and have toured to more than 10 countries. DESCRIPTION:Become a champion for change!\nWednesday 13th November 2024  |  Student $28.50 \nThis curriculum focus day explores the marine environment and the impact of pollution. \nThe day’s inquiries will stimulate your child’s geographical knowledge of Sydney Harbour and ignite their passion for exploring sustainable solutions to real world problems. \nOn the day\, stage 5 students will have the opportunity to engage with Taronga’s Wildlife Conservation Scientists\, members of the Wildlife Hospital\, and Community Engagement Officers. They will also have the opportunity to enjoy Seals for the Wild experience and make a difference to the local environment by cleaning and assessing the rubbish present found on the Sydney Harbour foreshore. All workshops and resources are created to be stage appropriate and will be shared leading up to the event. \nBy participating in this full day workshop\, students will be challenged to think about the positive changes they can make in their local area\, and the direct or indirect impacts this could have on our marine wildlife. \nPlease note: Each un-related child participating must be accompanied by a supervising adult.  While there is no cost for this supervision\, the adult is required to stay with the child at all times throughout the day.  This ensure both the safety and well-being of the child during their activities.

The confirmation email tells you there will be tickets arriving soon. Unfortunately this is a little bug in our system – tickets are not necessary as we have all your details already – you just check in with us in the morning before the carnival starts so we know you are present. It’s a good idea to keep your confirmation email handy just in case. \nWhat is the itinerary? We will email you the itinerary and useful information for the day in the week before the carnival. We can’t send that any earlier as the way we will run the day will depend on the total number of participants we end up with in each group. \nWill the kids be using real discus and shot puts? Yes! There will be real equipment there as well as training versions of the equipment depending on what the individual would like to have a go at. \nCan my child participate in lower age groups because of their developmental challenges? No. Please enter your child in their chronological age group. There is no need to “adjust” a child’s age to accommodate for developmental or physical challenges. In the past we have found that all the children entered in lower age groups decided on the day that they would have preferred being with their chronological age group after all. Children of all abilities will participate together and are encouraged to have a go at the events in a safe and supportive environment. \nI can’t make it to the carnival\, can I get a refund? Once the closing date for bookings has passed we are unfortunately unable to give a refund on tickets as we have already committed the number of participants to the event organiser.

Our teaching artists guide students through a practical\, English/Drama blended exploration of some of Shakespeare’s greatest characters from a number of plays. Over two hours\, teaching artists will activate language analysis\, themes\, key discussion points\, scene work and character analysis\, with the whole class on their feet. DESCRIPTION:Primary Workshop- Magic and Mayhem \n10:30am-12:30pm \nAges 8-11 \nWe believe our journey with Shakespeare should start young. Bell Shakespeare’s Magic and Mayhem Primary workshop is designed to immerse students in Shakespeare through playful and interactive storytelling. Our teaching artists will take young students on a two-hour narrative journey through some of Shakespeare’s magical array of characters\, from a number of plays. Students will learn about character\, language techniques\, and expanding vocabulary. We’ll intersperse creative and critical thinking activities throughout so you can continue to explore Shakespeare long after we’ve gone. Most importantly\, we will deliver an entertaining\, engaging and informative Shakespeare immersion that will have students on their feet\, speaking and playing with Shakespeare. \nTexts included in workshop: A Midsummer Night’s Dream\, The Tempest\, Macbeth \nThis workshop has been kindly subsidised by Bell Shakespeare \nMaximum number of participants – 30 \nWorkshop will be held at Bell Shakespeare premises – Pier 2/3\, Walsh Bay Arts Precinct\, Hickson Road\, Dawes Point (in between The Rocks and Barangaroo) \nPlease note: an accompanying adult and younger (non-participating) siblings are permitted to attend as audience but need to be quiet.  If you want a chat\, then there are tables and chairs outside the workshop room or outside the pier with beautiful views of the Harbour and lots of restaurants/cafes.
