DESCRIPTION:Primary Workshop- Intro into Shakespeare \nTHIS IS A REPEAT OF WORKSHOP HELD IN JULY LAST YEAR.  YOU CAN RE-DO THIS WORKSHOP BUT JUST NEED TO BE AWARE THAT THERE WILL BE OVERLAP WITH WHAT WAS LEARNT LAST YEAR. \n9.30am – 11.30am \nAges 7-10 \nWe believe our journey with Shakespeare should start young. Bell Shakespeare’s Intro to Shakespeare Primary workshop is designed to immerse students in Shakespeare through playful and interactive storytelling. Our teaching artists will take young students on a two-hour narrative journey through some of Shakespeare’s magical array of characters\, from a number of plays. Students will learn about character\, language techniques\, and expanding vocabulary. We’ll intersperse creative and critical thinking activities throughout so you can continue to explore Shakespeare long after we’ve gone. Most importantly\, we will deliver an entertaining\, engaging and informative Shakespeare immersion that will have students on their feet\, speaking and playing with Shakespeare. \nThis workshop has been very kindly subsidised by Bell Shakespeare \nMaximum number of participants – 30 \nWorkshop will be held at Bell Shakespeare premises – Pier 2/3\, Walsh Bay Arts Precinct\, Hickson Road\, Dawes Point (in between The Rocks and Barangaroo) \nPlease note: an accompanying adult and younger (non-participating) siblings are permitted to attend as audience but need to be very quiet (noises\, even whispers\, carry and can be disruptive).  We strongly suggest that if you have younger children\, that you sit outside the room with them as it is difficult for them to be quiet and sit still for the two hours of the workshop.  If you want a chat\, then there are tables and chairs outside the workshop room or outside the pier with beautiful views of the Harbour and lots of restaurants/cafes.  Once you are inside the workshop room\, we respectfully ask that you not move from there as this can be very disruptive for the teacher(s) and the workshop participants.

DESCRIPTION:A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings\nInspired by the story by Gabriel Garcia Marquez\nA magic-realist gem of theatre and storytelling from Ireland\, using a combination of music\, puppetry and live video projection.\n\nA rich exploration of human nature\n\nFor students who love exquisite\, beautifully crafted theatre\, a magical realist gem inspired by legendary novelist Gabriel García Márquez’s darkly comic fairy tale\, Un señor muy viejo con unas alas enormes. \nIn a kitchen\, in a theatre\, two storytellers and their audience discover something remarkable – a very old man with enormous wings – and invite us to speculate who he is. A neighbour believes he’s an angel\, a priest claims he’s an imposter.  Pilgrims flock to see him\, hoping to be healed by him. DESCRIPTION:Theatre Set Design and Stagecraft Workshop\nInspired by A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings\n(Please note – it is advisable that you also attend the performance of ‘A Very Old man with Enormous Wings’ in conjunction with the workshop however\, you can choose to just attend the workshop.) \n“There’s nothing better than having the opportunity to create a world that doesn’t\, but could\, exist” Christophe Lautrette \nIn this workshop students learn how to create dynamic spaces for live performance and theatre to build spaces of imagination for an audience. \n\nMake a world for theatrical storytelling\n\nIn this fun and engaging workshop inspired by A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings\, students have the opportunity to learn from Isabel Hudson\, a set and costume designer to create their own miniature worlds. Step into the captivating world of theatrical design and scenography to learn unique approaches that take ideas from the page to the stage. \nIn this workshop students will: \n\nExplore real-world examples to learn how a designer approaches the creative process.\nDevelop ideas and sketches to build students’ skills in stage and set design.\nCreate small scale models and prototypes for sets\, props\, characters and stages.\nConsider how different challenges and parameters that develop their design choices to enhance or bring alive the script or how an audience interprets a performance.\n\n\n\n\nThe workshop duration is 90 minutes. \nYOU MUST BE A SHEN MEMBER TO BOOK TICKETS.  PLEASE ONLY BOOK FOR YOUR IMMEDIATE FAMILY. \nPLEASE NOTE that parents can attend this workshop in a non-participating capacity.  Parents will be able to sit in the back of the Creative Learning Space.  Parents need to also purchase a ticket (even though free) at the time of booking.

DESCRIPTION:NSW Art Gallery learning tour and Workshop: Yolgnu Power\nTuesday 9th September\, 2025 \nFor primary Students – Stages 2-3 \nTour (10am – 11.30am) \nFor almost 100 years\, artists at Yirrkala have shared art as a means of cultural diplomacy – as a respectful assertion of power in its diverse forms\, from sovereignty to influence\, authority and control\, to energy\, strength and pride. Yolŋu power presents an opportunity to explore this art and its power to entice us into the Yolŋu world. \nIn this learning tour\, students get up close to artworks and learn about the significant moments in Yirrkala’s history when artists have consciously altered their practice\, developed new styles or embraced new mediums. \nLed by an Art Gallery educator\, this interactive session includes exhibition entry and is adapted for primary and secondary stages and their relevant curriculum outcomes. \nWorkshop (12.30pm – 2pm) \nLed by an Art Gallery educator\, students engage with works of art in the exhibition\, learn about Yolŋu art and culture\, and experiment with materials and techniques to create new work inspired by the artistic practices from Yirrkala in north-east Arnhem Land\, Northern Territory. \nThis hands-on workshop includes exhibition entry and is designed for both primary and secondary students with stage appropriate curriculum outcomes for making and responding. \nParents are permitted to attend for free (please select parent free ticket).  Please do not bring younger siblings to the tour and workshop (if you need to\, there is plenty to do in and around the Art Gallery) \nEach session is 1 ½ hours in duration \nYOU MUST BE A SHEN MEMBER TO BOOK TICKETS.  PLEASE ONLY BOOK FOR YOUR IMMEDIATE FAMILY.

Let’s see which region brings the most carnival spirit! \n  \nSeating and Accessibility: \nGeneral seating is available on a first-come\, first-served basis. The seating area is fully sheltered\, providing protection from sun and rain so you can enjoy the event in comfort. \nThe venue is equipped with ramps\, accessible restrooms\, and wheelchair-friendly areas with unobstructed views of all track and field events. \n  \nFood and Refreshments: \nAttendees are welcome to bring their own food (BYO)\, and a healthy food and coffee truck will be available onsite\, offering fresh\, nutritious options. A free water station is located by the grandstand to keep everyone hydrated. \nFor additional food choices\, Bass Hill Plaza\, approximately 1.6 km away\, offers a variety of eateries and shops. \n  \nRules & Guidelines – Let’s Keep the Fun Going! \nOur Athletics Carnival is all about excitement\, teamwork\, and friendly competition! To keep the energy high and ensure everyone has a fantastic time\, please follow these simple guidelines: \n Be a Good Sport – Cheer loud\, encourage others\, and celebrate every effort—whether you’re competing or supporting from the sidelines!  \n Parent & Guardian Attendance – All parents and guardians are required to remain at the venue with their children at all times. This ensures a safe and supervised environment for every athlete throughout the carnival. \n Stick Together – Parents and guardians\, please accompany younger children as they explore the event—yes\, that includes trips to the toilets!  \n Hydration & Safety First – Stay cool with plenty of water (available by the grandstand)\, apply sunscreen\, and first aid will be onsite if needed.  \n Footwear Matters – Athletes must wear appropriate sports shoes\, including running spikes where permitted. Open-toe shoes are not allowed for competitors to ensure safety. Spectators should wear comfortable footwear for walking around the venue. \n Respect the Space – Keep our venue clean and safe by disposing of rubbish properly and following staff directions.  \n Rain or Shine – The carnival will go ahead regardless of the weather\, so come prepared! Be sure to read the Wet Weather Contingency details for more information.  \n Capture the Memories – Snap photos and share the fun\, but professional filming and drones require prior approval.  \n No Party Crashers – Alcohol\, smoking\, and prohibited items are not allowed. DESCRIPTION:Sydney Dance Company performance of ‘Current’ – Wednesday 16th September\, 2026 11am – for upper Primary School & High School\, 9yrs – 18yrs \nat the Sydney Dance Company\, Nielson Studio \nCURRENT  threads together three new commissions from leading Australian choreographers\, Raghav Handa\, Jenni Large and Azzam Mohamed\, with the Australian premiere of Rafael Bonachela’s seminal work E2 7SD. Together these four artists form a compelling portrait of contemporary Australian dance — diverse in form\, voice and perspective\, yet united by curiosity and originality of expression. \nCreated in London in 2004\, E2 7SD is the award-winning work that defined Bonachela’s signature choreographic style and put him on the world stage\, winning over audiences and achieving critical acclaim. Never performed before in Australia\, this momentous anniversary feels like the perfect time to share this dynamic\, high-energy duet. \nWe have commissioned some of Australia’s most exciting choreographers to present new works that will join E2 7SD on stage as part of one seamless experience.
